HIGH flying Adelaide forward Brett Burton has had more surgery on his troublesome left knee, and is set to miss the first round of the AFL season.
Burton returned from the AFL club’s training camp on the Gold Coast last night after reporting ongoing soreness following Saturday’s pre-season Cup loss to Port Adelaide.
The 31-year-old saw a specialist this morning and underwent an arthroscopy to repair cartilage damage.
Crows football operations general manager Phil Harper said Burton was disappointed but remained positive..
“Brett hasn’t missed a beat with training over the summer and he approaches his rehabilitation with the right attitude, so we hope to have him back on the track as quickly as possible,” Harper said.
Burton ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a match against Collingwood in July 2008.
The Crows play Fremantle at Subiaco on March 28 in round one.
