Well now everyone has played 8 games we know exactly where we are at and that’s a clear 4th spot, though we could be 3rd and equal 2nd if that point had been allowed. Still, what that means is we are one win away from 2nd spot and our percentage is ok but not flash.

I’m satisfied with that given we finished last in 2007. I do think though the players have plenty of room for improvement, they are getting plenty of the ball but not converting it on the scoreboard. You could say it has cost us 3 games. We were wasteful against Peel in the first half and as a result they took full advantage in the 3rd qtr and it was game over.

We had SD on toast at various stages of that match but kicked a wasteful 15.20. We should have kicked the first 4 goals of the match.

Luckily we got away with poor kicking again against Claremont, kicking a wasteful 11.16 but coming away the victors. This time against WP we end up with a draw by kicking 8.17. That just can’t continue if we are going to make the four at the end of the season. You only have to look at our best wins against EF, EP and SF when the players has their kicking boots on, it makes a huge difference.

A couple of sides below us are coming into form so if we fail to lift our goal kicking standards we will leave the door wide open for one or 2 of them to take our spot.

Good work so far but we must get better in front of goals.

The kicking for goal is our major problem at this stage of the season, it has been obvious that we are a much fitter team this year, we have out run most sides apart from Subi after half time.

Billson would be worth a try but I think we should persevere with Ransted for a while, he is at least getting his hands on the ball on a regular basis. IMO he would be better suited as a half forward flanker rather than a KPP.

We are in a much improved position this year with Colts and League in the 4 and the reserves just out despite playing very inconsistently and the club going very nicely off field, all in all a pretty good position at this time of the year but it is only one third of the way through the season so anything can happen from here if we lose our intensity and focus.

Whitey,
I reckon we are (in the 4)where we should be.

If you look at the planning that has been in place, the coach is in his third year the 4 is exactly where we should be.

Its all coming together well at the moment.

But lets not make the mistake we’ve made too many times before of accepting making the four mid season as good enough.

Next two are season defining. The one thing that has changed from seasons past is the belief and commitment of the playing squad. Just need to convert that belief between ball and foot a bit more.

Still a mountain of work to do and Saturday is another opportunity to prove we are the real deal in 2008.

If you can beat the sides below you on a regular basis, and have the occasional win against the sides currently above you, you will play finals football!

Good overall summation PC and we MUST continue to make progress by WINNING the NEXT 3 games. Then a Bye to do our Homework and then face a THOROUGH EXAMINATION against Subiaco on June 28.

Of course, the immediate TEST is THIS WEEK’S Game against an Opposition FIRED UP to knock us off for several reasons.Add MATHEW CARR,whether or Not he plays for them this week. They’ll make it a good reason anyway.

I’d sooner NOT WORRY about what other teams are doing,IF we CONTROL our own destiny.IF we do,such matters are an IRRELEVANCE.If NOT,then it’s up to us to PULL OURSELVES out of any SHIT we possibly put ourselves in.

If we COMPLETE the coming assignments before OUR BYE,then we don’t look back to games like Round 2 or 6.You look FORWARD to future assignments.Looking at other clubs winning this or Losing that MUST be a THING OF THE PAST.
