First off well done to Canning, Carlisle, Dianella and Belmont for making their respective Grand Finals. Games will be played at Gosnells oval.

This is why we train and play for 8 months of the year. Grand Final Day! While some of us will be on the sidelines offering enoucouragment while 44 players will take to the field to inflict as much pain on the opposition and take home premiership glory. Only 1 team will taste winners p!ss whilst for the other it still tastes pretty good but just not as sweet.

Canning Vs Carlisle
Canning have been the form team all year. They are so far undefeated and Carlisle is the team to have come closest, by 2 points, in round 9. I picked Canning to knock Dianella over by 8 goals and instead it was 10 and in finals atmosphere that’s a massacre. Other than Carlisle touching up Belmont so far all the games have been very close which is great to see and generally decided by less than 3 goals. Carlisle’s biggest issue is talls. They lack them but what they lack in talls they make up for in run. The kids are hungry and have a desire to win. Canning on the other hand are a very well drilled team with talent in vital spots. Carlisle will need to apply pressure to a few key midfielders/forwards and use their run to hit back hard. Canning will make you pay on turn overs and won’t miss targets so keeping hold of the pill is crucial. Big Al is there target up forward and he needs to kick a bag if they are any chance. The other key forward is the young dark skinned fella. I’ve heard he chopped on the weekend and Canning will need to keep him quiet. Canning by 4 goals for me.

Belmont Vs Dianella Morley
Dianella will be playing in I think their 4th GF in as many years. They have won 2 if memory serves me correctly and know what it takes to win on the big day. Belmont have come back after getting hammered in C grade for the last couple years and they took 1 game a piece in during the year and Belmont beat them 2 weeks ago in the 2nd Semi. Belmont have a couple league boys playing down who obviously qualified throughout the year and with Dianella’s league squad out there could be a few playing down for Dianella as well. Dianella have shown in recent weeks if you apply pressure they will faulter but you can’t keep them down all day. Its going to require a 4 quarter effort to beat them and anything less will result in a loss to Belmont. This will be a great game to watch as both sides will have some ferocity at the ball and anyone holding the ball. Whoever keeps their cool under pressure and takes their opportunites will win. Most will have Belmont winning after defeating Dianella 2 weeks ago but I’m going to tip Dianella by 4 points.

good luck all

Can i go first,

Carlisle - Dont worry about the kids getting up for this week - They have the biggest free hit in WAAFL D grade history - no one rated them for weeks, they finished 6th and were supposed to loose every week for the last three. Now they get a chance at an undefeated side this week. I wonder were the pressure lies.

The only pressure at Coen Street this week will be on Wiggy on Thursday night. Room for improvement over the past two weeks im told mate.

You would not want to put in a sub par effort this week canning would you?

In the reserves ill go for Belmont just, I feel they have better league players to drop back than Dianella.

Good luck to everyone and see you at Gosnells League oval this Saturday.

Oh and Barney Stinson picks the Calrisle also

Thanks Hangover...........you can read my mind!!

The Carlisle kids do have a massive free hit this week and if the round 9 game was anything to go by we will give it a big go! We have improved by probably 5-6 goals since that day at Wyong and i think the pressure is firmly on the Canning boys. Been plenty of sides go undefeated all year and lose the one that counts! Carlisle by a kick!

And yes, the only guy at Carlisle reserve feeling any heat this week is the club stalwart Wiggy. His finals series has been average at best and he will need to show he has what it takes on Thursday night to retain his position next year.

Ressies, hard to go past Belmont. DM were not overly impressive in getting over easts and i think Belmont will take the cookies in this one by about 4 goals.

Sorry to pull you up there Stinson but DM were beaten by 12 goals against canning and you beat DM by 5 points not sure 5 or 6 goal improvement will be enough. Don’t get offended just stating the facts.

I will be a keen observer at the game on the weekend and my smart money is on Canning.
Canning paying $1.11 and Carlisle paying $4.40.  I see Canning winning by 5 Goals to match your 5-6 goal improvement.

As for the reserves i guess it all depends on who is playing for either side.
Pretty sure Belmont had loaded up against DM 2 weeks ago and look to see DM do that for the GF.
This could go either way but i am sticking with DM to get the win by 3 goals.
Belmont paying $1.30 DM paying $1.40.

Pretty happy about the location in Gosnells not to far to travel.

Just for the record Slippery , Belmont’s reserves side only had 3 league boys come down all the rest have played ressies all year. It is going to be a tough game for us and hopefully we can come away with the win.

Thanks Split it’s a breath of fresh air to have some honesty around here.

My mate tells me that DM have about 8 players they could consider for the final but he also says that going on previous years these players are no certainty to take a reserve players spot.

I agree, will be the game to watch for the day i think.

GF probably a blow out but well done to Carlise on there promotion earnt from 6th spot.

Good luck to the CARLISLE Boys this weekend and all participating teams to be fair.

Whilst the local may not sponsor the Club, why do I feel it could get a Bit crowded Late Saturday Night?

Fairly good year for the ARMADALE DEES after Last Year’s DISASTERS.

Consolidate for next year Fellas and you might challenge for a Flag yourselves.Well done to MICHAEL PALMER on winning the BRETT JONES Colts F and B.

I think $1.11 is being kind to Carlisle. Canning haven’t lost a game all year and beat the 2nd best team during the year by 10 goals. Should be $1.04 favourite and Carlisle should be $5.50 in which case I’d slide a 10er down on Carlisle as a value for money bet wink

Viper I’ll take your $5.50!!!

So if DM were the 2nd best side all year why arent they playing in a GF??? Do people forget what the result was at Wyong in round 9??

Canning are ripe to be this years Kalamunda!

$5.50 ill have money on that also please. Viper im not sure what is braver, offering those type of odds when the game will clearly be alot closer than you expect, or bringing all that cash to Gosnells so you can pay out...............

Well the season will be over for all in a couple of days. For me the bag is packed and I’m ready for Bintangs come Sunday arvo. Good luck to all those who are playing this weekend, enjoy the success if it comes.

League - Canning Vs Carlisle

Can the Tigers go undefeated? Most people thinks so and I tend to agree with them. Hats off to Carlisle who have really surprized me - after they lost to us at Coolamon I didn’t think they would dent the finals what so ever.... how wrong was I (and alot of others too mind you). Good luck to the Cougars in the GF and D grade next year. Canning to win for me.

Reserves - Belmont Vs Dianella Morley This game should be a cracker. Both sides clearly best all year and get another crack at each other this week. Belmont hold the confidence after the last encounter but the Raiders hold the finals experience. Belmont will need to stop the chrome domes (I thought you would like that last time yark and Co) which others haven’t been able to do. The fact that both league teams are out should make it interesting and both clubs will be down watching and hoping for a flag. Flip the coin........ heads it is. Belmont to win.

It’s been enjoyable bantering with you all, especially those who I get to meet and have a beer with. Until next season...........

Viper your obviously a clown mate, did you have your ears closed when your heard about the round 9 clash and our team is even stronger this time around. Regards to your canning paying a 1.04 remark if anything should be paying a 1.04 it would be for the dark skinned fella as you call him to recieve the best on ground award on Saturday. His lightning pace and silky skills will be too much for any of cannings midfielders. I admit were going in as underdogs but that’s how we like and that’s been provin in our last 3 games, ..... Look out canning the young breed of cougars are coming !!

$5.50 odds sounds great! dont forget carlisle are going in with little to no pressure as they dont have anything to lose, canning going undefeated has dumped a sh!t load of pressure on them to stay unbeaten.

i tip carlisle by one kick!
