Looks like big fella Callum Wilson may have sewn up a ‘real’ spot on wce’s list for the next few years with 4 goals today. Good on him 2. In his 3rd year as a rookie, which I think is the limit so next week maybe his last with the eagles or the start of years of AFL football. Certainly a better option than Lynch, Hansen and McKinley.

Ashton Hams too has done enough to play regular AFL next year. Great to see as he is a no nonsense player who will improve the more he plays.

Mr Ryan Murphy showed his lack of AFL skill and desire yesyerday which is why he will be gone at the end of the year. Will he stay in Perth and play at SF?? Wouldn’t think so being a Vic boy. Be nice if he did like Seigert, Ryley Dunn and Luke Pratt have done.

Got me thinking though, there is a real chance that we SF, could be without our 2 key forwards next year and for years to follow. 100+ goals a year on average for the last 4-5 years. A huge hole to fill.

Haydn North, currently out injured with a hammy may have already played his last game for the club. Theo Adams has been a huge loss for us this year but is by no means a cert to be well enough to play on next year. phillips will be out for the first half of the year recovering from his knee op. Question marks surely hang over the head of blokes such as Miller (should keep going), Bossong, McGrath (injury the main concern).

Big restructure needed but the most worrying thing is if Wilson is in the wce plans for the future and Murphy does go back home, where do you get 2 quality forward during the pre season?? Kersten can fill a spot as a 3rd forward for sure but then he will be gone to the AFL. We lacked a small forward as it is, hardly want to be lacking a ff and chf also.

Don’t think we as supporters could have asked anything else from the youngsters such as Bairstow, Phillips, Gugliamana, Amato, Collica, Dellolio. Kersten and Parry.

Scott Thornton probably will head back home 2 you would think and with Seigert retiring throughout the year we certainly need some experience to help these young blokes along.

I look forward to a busy and productive time in the next 3-4 months for the SFFC with plenty of action to be seen.

Agree in part with what you are saying Dogman, however Murphy is engaged to a Perth girl, so he is more than likely to stay here now than go back to Vic. Thornton has been here now since ‘02 I think, so would be a big move to go back home after 8-9 years, but there is no indication that he will play on anyway.

Believe WCE would be silly to off-load Wilson, he needs to be in there future thinking, as players like Hansen & Lynch are done at WCE....

Possible retirements being Miller, McGrath, Bossong & North. Toby’s 200th on Saturday & he might chose to walk away after that milestone. Miller could go on, but can his body hold up???

All in all, interesting times ahead, Brent Dawkins has his work cut out & needs to use his experience in AFL circles to bring some good recruits on board…

interesting time ahead - yes there is a slim chance Murphy may hang around if the offer is right..there should be plenty of money to spend with so many exiting this year..  Toby to wrap it up for sure this week IMO…

Sorry swans, was thinking Ryan Davis the lad who wce drafted from nsw andhung around and wrote Luke Pratt. Can add Aam Campbell to that list of players who have stayed. Sorry bout that.

Toby did say after last years GF that he felt he had 2-3 more years left in him so I don’t think he would give it up now still far too good of a player IMO to finish up. FF could be a nice spot for him running through the middle for bursts a quarter.

Miller has been injury free for years and isn’t that old really. Can see him going for a couple ore which we desperately need.

Hope Murphy does play. Will be a better player 2 I reckon cutting down his training schedule at AFL level may just create more enjoyment for him withou the hassle and depression of not getting a gig at the top grade.

JD I beleve will sign a deal for 3 years. I reckon he will see that through. Man of integrity.

May open the door for 1 big recruit to fill a sot up forward and use McCarrey at FF. May just be what he needs to have a clear role week to week.

I’d say if we can keep Murphy, get Graham up andkeep onto Toby and Miller, have a full season from theAdams boys and get Phillips for at least half the year we are still 3-4 very good players short of being a force.

You would think that Perth may throw cash in Murphy’s direction seeing as how his fiance is the daughter of one of their past players. That could well be on.

I was aware of that oss & thought the same, but given the state the Perth football club are in @ present, Murphs would be silly to leave for $ alone, given his luv for our club…but hey, u never know?

We should have plenty of spare cash after a few exit this year oss, I’m sure we could match it.

Hey Dogman, Where do you sit gameday? I might come say hello, we can discuss how good Zane Parson’s was in his heyday and whether Metro was the better player etc etc

You souths boys were all pretty cock-a-hoop and full of yourselves last year, but sound like a flogged dog (no relation fd) this year.  I said it before, your club sold it’s soul for a flag and now may pay for it for a long time.  I suppose it’s something a club has to weigh up - short term glory v’s long term pain.
