The Double header experiment....Brent Lecras 100th game - The War Horse

I think this game is winnable for WP due to the injuries at Claremont and suspect Simon McPhee will rest a couple of players with niggling injuries. It appears Chad Jones has a hammy problem and Richardson an Ankle? injury..

I am a bit concerned with the WP players as well on the injury front. At least 10 players v SF were wearing heavy strapping..Key players at that e.g
Guady/Burnsy(groin?)/Shadbolt reoccurring shoulder injury/ Fleay leg/Mitch Andrews Ankle
Leccy (groin?) something wrong with him. and strapping on a few other players.
I am sure these guys will all run on and play well as they showed v SF when they saw the game out.

Our back line were brilliant v SF (Hunt/Fleay/Burns etc) and will be busy again with the Cla midfield being excellant
We have the match ups for these guys all being well. Both the Bewicks are playing well to give support to our other key players. Our Ruck is doing well with Mitch/Chris winning a lot of the ball. Frank Stockley did well in the Ressies as well so we have some depth depending on the side selected.

The weather shouldn’t be to bad…
Saturday Few showers.  Min 5 Max 18

We have played Cla twice before this…

Round 6 at Cla . Cla 17.15 def WP 12.12
Round 13 Joondalup. Cla 17.9 def WP 6.10
These games can be put behind us as there are a lot of variables comming into the game this week with player outs and venue etc etc.

Its a Grand Old Flag

“There are plenty of teams in every sport that have great players and never win titles. Most of the time, those players aren’t willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the team. The funny thing is, in
the end, their unwillingness to sacrifice only makes individual goals more difficult to achieve. One thing I believe to the fullest is that if you think and achieve as a team, the individual accolades
will take care of themselves. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”

Jeez Cardy you blokes are alcoholics! a cocktail function at 10am! Also how about updating the Claremont jumper!

Dont expect a slack approach from the tigers in this one. We wont be doing you blokes any favours trust me. Speaking to the players on Saturday after the game they have A LOT to play for even though that may not seem to be the case.

When you get a side where players need to impress to keep their spot no one is going to ease up. Winning form is good form and we cant afford to have a slump so close to the 2nd semi.

I know well I would expect the Falcons to be absolutely pumped for this one which is great for us because we need two good hit outs at maximum pressure. Swannies play Perth and then Peel and I reckon that will lead them into a false sense of security.

Review by Ben Somerford The Budget

West Perth v Claremont

(At Steel Blue Oval)

Look for: The Falcons to go all out to produce an upset against the minor premiers as they try
to cement their position in the finals.
This game is the first match of Saturday’s double-header at Steel Blue Oval, Bassendean.
Interestingly, this is the first regular season double-header in the WAFL for more than 20 years.
For Claremont, who cemented top spot with last week’s 73-point demolition of Swan Districts, their
players will be trying to secure their own places in the team’s 22 ahead of the finals.
Unfortunately, the hamstring injury Chad Jones sustained last weekend means he probably
won’t reach the magic 100-goal mark, but in his absence Luke Blackwell had 44 touches and
Ian Richardson kicked five goals against Swans to ensure there was no let-up.
The Falcons moved into fourth spot last weekend with their 26-point victory at South
Fremantle with skipper Jason Salecic steering the way. West Perth has won their three of its
past four matches and can smell a finals berth. Brent LeCras is due to celebrate 100 WAFL games.

Looking good in the ressies:

West Perth reserves had a good win last weekend with Matthew Tedesco (36 disposals) and Paul
Elisseou (32 disposals and three goals) both pressing for a run in the seniors after decent games.
For the Tigers, they had a convincing win over Swan Districts in the reserves, with Jake
Murphy the stand-out collecting 45 touches and kicking three goals. Youngster Patrick Brennen
was good too, with 20 touches and four goals.

Overall record:
West Perth won 145, Claremont won 99, drawn 1
Overall grand final record:
West Perth won 1,
Claremont won 1

Love it.  So dry and witty...and funny SwanDog.. cool smile . You were joking of course.
Jones missed some earlier in the season and no problems for the club.
Glad he’s out though as tore us up last time..

Hope he recovers ok. Shame he will miss GF? after all the work he has done for CLA this year.
Is there any chance he will make it back for the GF?  Tiger?

Cardy 25 for us is Jess Laurie who hopefully will be back in the team soon, great defender. I think Swandog meant “unfortunately for Jones and the Tigers” not that it was season over for the tigers as well.

Hey Cardy you may know - how will the change room set up work for this one? cant see 2 league sides share those tiny rooms at Basso???? are 2 of the teams meant to use the public loos or set up a caravan? perhaps change in the red rooster loos across the road?

Interesting question but I would say one side in and one out when their game is over.
They certainly wont share!

Bit like Leederville during finals where the ressies use the Loftus centre facilities.
except there is no real option at Swans unless they have other rooms?
Would have to as a Swans supporter about that.
1115 start so basically playing in the Ressies time slot and over by 0130pm but the other game starts at 0215 which doesnt leave much time for a turnover of the rooms.

I do remember when WP had a Ressies game on in the finals and actually went to the grassed area at the back of the grandstand to do warmdowns etc etc..

Sure they will have a plan in place.... Maybe Perth wont turn up so the second game can be called off? grin

Half time is the only time the club really needs to go to the change rooms.. 3 qtr time is on the field so I would say the change room will be cleaned out by the volunteers and the Swans or Perth team will move in.

It does say on my first post there is a number to ring if you require any info. Might give them a ring tommorrow if your really interested?

update just heard Bill say on WAFL WORLD that WP will be using the Gymnasium.

Now that brings back some memories...Toss the coin and the loser plays skins.
At least you were harder to tackle but a lot of scratches came out of it.

Maybe the womans league should have look at it… Turnouts would be incredible.

He hasnt been a problem for us though 0nly 3 goals and well held 1st game v us, didnt play 2nd game and until he got injured last week didnt look like getting a kick as Ames had his measure again, so Jones or no Jones wont have an impact on Claremont or us, the question will be can Richardson, Derrickx, Ruck and Ninyette (another who was held last week) keep delivering goals for the next 5 weeks?
They are going to require their mids to run further forward and chip in with a few more, which could leave them vulnerable to a quick rebounding side like WP or SD.
