Agree totally, that was my original point, the game has changed for the worse in my opinion, it is soft and over regulated. Mark Ruchiutto summed it up to a tee last week.

Didnt see the incident but from others who did Mayne deserved a suspension if not more than what he got.
Dont want to keep harping about Van Berlo but another point worth mentioning is as a rookie WP got nothing for him as he played in WA.
Ok he gets the medical and other perks but being a WA rookie should automatically go back to his WAFL side if dropped or not picked.

Rookies can only play if a player is injured and they replace them and are not on the Senior list… So last week he obviously did not get selected to replace
e.g Barlow etc but can still be selected later to replace players.
Wheres the logic in that?  Another AFL rule that craps on Grass Roots teams.

Cardy, not sure what you are on about in regards to Van Berlo.Fact is he is a DOCKERS player, not a West Perth player. If the Dockers want to rest him, then they are within their rights to.He along with so many others on the Dockers list at the moment are obviously very tired and battered, they wanted him to be RESTED,not play with West Perth.
I have see the Mayne incident on tele like most of you here and my opinion is that the Perth player had the ball,Mayne tackled and threw him to the ground.I do not think Mayne knew that the ball had been disposed of at the time. The tackle was severe and should have been reported.I am not sure what the penalty should or shouldn’t have been.In todays game I do not think that it is an allowed type of tackle.I agree on the Mumford tackle that it was only the fact that it was Ablett that got Mumford into trouble.
I am sure that the AFL boys when they go back do become targets for the locals, but they should rise above that and have to realise that if they are succesful then they will get the tight tag when they play AFL.See Stephen Hill.

Press release from Dockers
http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/freo-unhappy-after-wafl-ban-for-mayne/story-e6frg1wu-1225907197837?from=public_rss

Ha that explains why Van Berlo didnt play for WP.. No injury just wanted to rest him.
That arrogant prick Harvey is not game to play his players in the WAFL because they might be Suspended…
Surely the player knows this Harvey and can be trusted???

In a interview this morning on 91.3 was questioned on this issue and stated AFL players get targeted when they come back to WAFL.

Pretty poor when you consider the home teams development of these players in the WAFL etc.

Harvey has drawn a line in the sand and it once again shows the RESPECT the AFL coaches show towards the WAFL competition.
Should be interesting to see what happens with Freo players during the Finals.

Always remember Lynchy going for MINOR knee surgery last year after Freo dumped from finals and before the WAFL finals. His minor knee surgery could of waited a couple of weeks..

Oh well Harvey will have another player rested for a week now(Mayne)...Plenty of others to pick from that have been PLAYING WELL IN THE WAFL.......Thats my point Harves
Listening to your interview today I suggest you get YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ARSE!!!

Lynch a Dockers player!!!!Since when? Seems that you don’t know too much about the AFL Cardy.Check your teams list,
Why is Harvey arrogant?Just because he doesn’t want his players injured! WAFL is important, there is not doubt, but it is now a breeding ground for AFL players. You may not like it but it is the truth and if you want to blame any for that then blame the WAFL for allowing the EAgles to become part ot the VFL.It was always going to happen.Fremantle coming into the competition only helped make it worse.Don’t tell me the Eagles didn’t and haven’t done the same thing as what Freo have done.Oh yes thats right,Lynch last year, damn EAGLES.Such arrogant pricks.

Of course I know Lynch plays for the Eagles it was a typo...God it must be hard to be perfect.. Maybe you should be a proof reader at the West or Sunday times.
Any chance to snipe hey? When you know it was a error.
Maybe you had Harvey should be drinking partners as your arrogance and his should make for a great conversation.
Now what did you say?

My point with Van Berlo is as a Rookie he should automatically go back to his WAFL club as he is not on the Senior list. WP receive no payment for his use at Fremantle. They did not receive any money from Fremantle when he was taken as a Rookie as he is WA based.
If he gets elevated WP will receive $38,000 if he isnt he either goes to another AFL club where we will pick up the $38,000 or $15,000 (rookie) if it is a Eastern States club or he comes back to WP.

Effectively while Strijk and Van Berlo are Rookies the WAFL club gets nothing. The player certainly does in medical and match payments but NOT THE WAFL CLUB.
That is my point

Poitnting out a a error is arrogance. How was it an obvious typo?It would not be like any one here to take a crack at Freo for any thing would it?Cheap shots and all that.To me you were hoping that no one would pick up on your typo and think you got away with another snipe at the Dockers.
Me perfect!! Not by a long shot, and have been shot down a few times here, but don’t come the hurt and wounded crap when someone pulls you up on an error. Now that to me would be arrogance.
I would consider it an honour to have a beer with Mark Harvey.I am sure we could have an intelligent and engrossing conversation on footall of all types.Unlike some here.

I’d love to have a Beer with HARVES too given he was a CHAMP at ESSENDON and consequently, earned FREO a soft spot in My heart.

I’d start by asking him about ESSENDON Supporter Icon in THE PHANTOM and see if he’s caught up with the little Redhead lately.

But I’d have to PULL Him up about the WAFL being brought into line with the AFL.

Especially not INTERCHANGE or LENGTH ofQUARTERS or RUSHED Behinds.AndI’m afraid Tribunal rulings.Much as I disagree with Mr O’SULLIVAN Jnr about his JUDGEMENT on CHRIS’ HARD TACKLE.

GEEZ Bernie, spare us the BLACK CAP will ya? angry

Its pretty obvious what goes on here. if one of the afl listed players gets reported its usually a reprimand. if one of the afl listed players gets struck its double the penalty.

Agree SFFC4EVER...The tribunal has shown what a joke it is. A bit of pressure from the AFL club and they crack...As you say any other WAFL player would of got the 2 weeks and end of story.
But we know who rules the roost dont we.
Why dont the 2 AFL clubs just play each other with there rejects each week and just drop all Senior listed players from the WAFL.... Why because they need a platform to keep their players in form when it suites them..

Another solution would be to make the WAFL a fully independant league and if the AFL clubs want players make THEM PAY more than the lousy $36,000 they pay now to these clubs.
Secession from the AFL is what I say..Tell the WAFC to take a leap.
Will never happen..... and would be a possible disaster as others will point out I am sure

Radical I know but where do we go to break the bonds these pricks have on us?

I didn’t see the incident though there was a similar one in last nights game. In that case the commentators thought it would be looked at, however IMO the tackler had no way of knowing the ball had been disposed of.

Watch most tackles and the tackler has their eyes closed at some point.

Now, yes or no, did Mayne see that the player had disposed of the ball? If there is enough doubt around that, I would suggest the end result was the right one.
