and gets PINGED for it.

2 weeks by the HANGING JUDGE I suspect.

PERTH and FREO put in a Joint Protest, but it does Nothing more than reduce the Penalty by a week.

The Powers that be Look Ridiculous here.Yes,it didn’t look good for the PEEL Kid.But was that CHRIS MAYNE’s Fault who did no more than time his TACKLE a split second late?

Is it his FAULT,that he has is a FANTASTIC TACKLER with an IRON GRIP on opponents?Or he had someone half his size in his Grip?He played HARD but FAIR.

This ain’t LITTLE LEAGUE DORRO and TED.Whilst you don’t want to any see players get hurt,if it happens through a natural action within the LAWS of the game, why NAIL him for it?

Whereas you guys found HEADLAND GUILTY last week for Obviously going OUTSIDE the LAWS of the Game, BIFFING someone and he BLOODY WELL Got off!

EXPLAIN! angry

Grassy i am the first person to say wafl umpires and tribunal are a joke but have you even watched the footage.

It is a crude tackles, 10 seconds late and mayne picked his Target well with Beswick, the smallest player in the wafl. He was knocked out and swung over Mayne backwards, head first into the ground. 2 weeks was a light sentence. Freo tried scare tactics and public pressure, the penalty should be increased to 3 with a failed hearing.

its questionable whether mayne is in the dockers best 22 anyway

Fair crack Grassy, he would have got at least two in the AFL for it.

I’m with you FJ and p.h.  it was dangerous and reckless and could have severely injured the Peel player.  Those sorts of tackles incur suspensions in the ARL for very good reason and the same should apply in the AFL.

Spot on, ball was well and truly gone by the time Mayne threw him to the ground

I also heard it was very reckless and dangerous. It’s funny to hear dockers fans whinging abot the WAFL tribunal, they should be asking Mayne why he was being such an idiot.

Mayne needs to temper his endeavour and remember in modern footy you must not hurt anyone, if they have their head down, make way so they can kick a goal, don’t touch them at all and above all else don’t be the fool that does all the hard work and actually gets the ball in a pack and gives away a free kick.

Grassy didnt see Headlands do wont comment on it. Mumford was in the act of tackling Gary Ablett earlier this year and he got two weeks from the AFL. I think the footage of this is worse than that incident and it knocked the kid out. Do I need to say any more...........

I think Mayne was lucky to only get 2 weeks for that. Would have been more if it was the NRL

Press release from Dockers
http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/freo-unhappy-after-wafl-ban-for-mayne/story-e6frg1wu-1225907197837?from=public_rss

Ha that explains why Van Berlo didnt play for WP.. No injury just wanted to rest him.
That arrogant prick Harvey is not game to play his players in the WAFL because they might be Suspended…
Surely the player knows this Harvey and can be trusted???

In a interview this morning on 91.3 was questioned on this issue and stated AFL players get targeted when they come back to WAFL.

Pretty poor when you consider the home teams development of these players in the WAFL etc.

Harvey has drawn a line in the sand and it once again shows the RESPECT the AFL coaches show towards the WAFL competition.
Should be interesting to see what happens with Freo players during the Finals.

Always remember Lynchy going for MINOR knee surgery last year after Freo dumped from finals and before the WAFL finals. His minor knee surgery could of waited a couple of weeks..

Oh well Harvey will have another player rested for a week now(Mayne)...Plenty of others to pick from that have been PLAYING WELL IN THE WAFL.......Thats my point Harves
Listening to your interview today I suggest you get YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ARSE!!!

Always happens cardy, just ask South…but @ the end of the day, if your club doesn’t ‘rely’ on these players & counts them as a ‘bonus’ comes finals time, shouldn’t matter too much…

@ the end of the day the AFL clubs do with their players as they will…unfortunately usually at the detriment of the WAFL…. sick

I think Harvey was referring to WAFL players targeting AFL players when they come back to local level and that would be a fair comment. Tall poppy and all that. Maynes incident was not worth a suspension, he grabbed the guy when he had the ball, the ball slipped out during the tackle and he hit the ground. Unfortunate for the guy, but nothing untoward.

Bullshit JB.. for a start Mayne slung him well after the player HANDBALLED to a team mate.. it was reckless & negligent.. 2 weeks was the correct penalty. You can’t do this stuff anymore in football.

Does anyone remember earlier in the season when Shane Mumford copped 2 weeks for throwing Ablett to the ground after he DROPPED the ball?

Well Mayne did pretty much the same, except the player disposed of the ball properly and then Mayne threw him to the ground head first. In the AFLyou would get 3 or 4 weeks for what he did.

It was a dangerous act and he needs to be punished. There can’t be one set of rules for AFL players and one set of rules for WAFL players.
