Read somewhere the list of injuries we have.

Made me wonder how many of the premiership side from less than 1 year ago will run out V WP tomorrow night.

Bell, Farmer, Smithers. (retired last year)
Graham, Delolio, Phillips, Reece Adams, Theo Adams, Wilkie. (injured)
Thornton, Seigert. (retired this year)
Wilson, Hams. (AFL)

Leaves Mugumbwa, Delmenico, Head, K. Hams, Bossong, Hunt, Miller, White, McGrath playing. That’s 9/22!!!

Lost close to two thirds of a premiership side!!!

I think of that 9 only Hams, Miller, Delmenico and White have played close to the full year.

When you have a look at blokes like Gugliamana, Bairstow, Parry and Collica this year who are all 18,19,20 yrs old it looks ok for the years to come when we get the injured players back next year.

Palumbo, Winter, Kersten and Motlop have also shown good signs during their rare opportunites.

Wouldn’t mind having a midfield brigade next year of Nathan Phillips, Reece and Theo Adams, Miller, Bairstow, Gugliamana, Wilkie, Delolio and Palumbo plus 1-2 recruits.

McGrath, Hams’, White and Head will be the cream and not relied upon every week hopefully.

McCarrey up forward, with Wilson, Delmenico, Gumby, McGrath and 2 livewire forwards. Doubt Murphy will stay as he is sure to be delisted this time by freo.

Graham in the ruck with either Haywood blooded from the ressies or a recruit.

Down back, same kind of feel with Hunt and Bossong, White and Hams but definately need a running half back here and another solid tall defender. (McCarrey up forward coz Murphy went home)

3-4 recruits in the right spot and less injuries and we should have some more sustained success!!!

thats becasue a lot of them were playing in the ressies 27, due to the current injuries @ the club, get your facts correct...we had at least 5 players from our 16’s devleopment squad!

I agree mate - but I think its safe to say we are entering a rebuilding phase now, a leaner year or two ahead.

Expect a few more to exit end of this year: Toby? Murphy? Bossong?

Big Deal ..most sides do at this time of year! Swans are in the same boat with plenty of Colts filling in ressies & Outridge is playing in the League team up from the Colts. SD have just as many injuries but to better quality players (Hansen, Pearce, Walters, Robinson, Davis, Colreavy, Potente) but were covering them ok!

I think we have some good youngsters coming through S&S but a few have been ‘thrown into the deep end’ a bit earlier than we would have liked, given the injury toll…

We should go after Murphy…he’s engaged to a Perth girl so there’s a good chance he’ll stay here rather than go home...Murphs luvs the club, so we need to entice him to stay…Ditto Thornton
We also need to actively recruit this year…

Think we could see as many as 4 retirements come the end of the season ie: McGrath, Miller, North, Bossong…

Why do you guys need to actively recruit? You guys have been spruiking your depth and young talent for as long as I can remember so why not back them?

“Swans totaly over rated by the media - will do very little this year.”

don’t see how Wilson is classed as a loss to the AFL.......considering he has missed only 2 games I think SF have been bloody lucky......also Murphy has played 17 games and between them they haved kicked SF 100 plus goals.......probably nearly half your goals.

SF injuries have been no different to other clubs over the years.....seems to be a frequently used excuse for SF demise this year.........whilst injuries are fustrating, SF persued glory last year on the back of playing a fairly mature side.....the plus side initially was a premiership, the down side is that such players retire, get injured or slow down, resulting in a rebuilding phase of perhaps 5 plus years.....considering the extended number of AFL clubs over the next few years, WAFL clubs will find it harder and harder to rebuild.....

SF wont be away for long. They have a good zone and will happen again.
Maybe a couple of years and unless they get killed by the draft will bounce back.
Injuries (oops sorry) have hurt them this year.

Could only be the 3rd time in 39 years that the previous seasons Grand finalists have failed to make the finals the next season

Thanks SwanDog for that enlightning piece of information

Not good enough again, last three games we have been in winnable positions at half time and been over run by the opposition...Fitness? , Inexperience? , Old Legs? , Hunger? , Strategy? , On Field Leadership? IMO a combination of them all.

Could not believe at times tonight the lack of organisation at stoppages all over the ground, who the hell is our midfield/stoppage coach? Time after time WP smashed us at the centre breaks with Andrews having a great game V Delmenico, but we did not try anything different? ie more mobile and different type in the middle in Mugumbwa he only came into the middle 10 mins to go in the last quarter, the horse had already bolted by then....Not much thinking boys about plan B and C JD and Co!!! Around the ground far too many of our boys wanting to play their opponents on ski rope , and very dangerous practice when the opposition had such a dominant Ruckman, he gave his midfielders an arm chair ride.
Lets hope our reserves are able to make the four and play some finals, good experience and preparation for those youngsters for 2011

As for the league group roll on the last game V Sub in two weeks....
The club has got a lot of hard work ahead us to make up the lost ground that we have lost on the teams that have finished above us in 2011....

Good to see you **** loose stop complaining about the injuries no finals this season

Looks like that finals drought for this decade is over MossStreeShark!! enjoy while you can your team deserves their opportunity.
Unfortunatley I think you and either WP , EP or Subi could be just making up the numbers...Looks like a two horse race IMO…

Actually 3times in 40 years 71 (Sth and Perth) 75 (EF and Perth) 2000 (SF and WP)

Well that really is it..mothballs, just not enough out there last night to do the job, a major slide from premiers last year to no finals the next.

Lots of work to do over the off season and into next, 1-2 years to get back into major contention. plaus a few stalwarts exiting in a couple of weeks.

Im still not 100% convinced that JD is the man t take us into the next era,
