Claremont V Swan Districts
Head to head
Played 229 Cl 139 SD 88 D 2
@ Claremont Oval
Played 101 Cl 69 SD 32
The big one!
Will Claremont beat this season’s bogey team?
Played them twice, both at Swan’s home ground, this time Swans are out of their comfort zone and venture to yuppieville.
Swans have to go into this game as favourites. Claremont need to make a statement leading into the finals, the 2nd Semi will be played here, so they need to make Swans uncomfortable.
The Krakouer factor.....in both previous games he’s torn us up in the 1st quarter....a job for Ian Rowe.
Geappen.....snuck up on a lot of teams.....now kicked 51 goals (?).
Rowe and Starling showed the depth at Claremont on Saturday.
Great for the WAFL.....a battle of two powerful running teams. Beats the crap being dished up in the AFL.
Forecast is for a shower or two....so it should be reasonable.
Claremont by 12 points.
Hey Swandog get on to facebook and drag Boucher down
Hey T not guaranteed yet the home 2nd semi i mean. Thats why I reckon the boys will be pumped to win this one coz then it will be. If we lose and then say lose to WP and EP then we will lose top spot. Highly unlikely but again win this week and we have it in the bag mainly thanks to the demons!
I think we only played at about 70% on Saturday, will need to lift that to 90% to beat the swannies who mind you never play well at tigerland.
Noticed on Saturday night all the players went home early and there was this real sense of them looking forward to this weekend. Bumper crowd I hope (for the clubs sake as well!) but also to add to the overall vibe.
Andrew Browne I thought was excellent on Saturday as was Ian Rowe so those 2 are an added bonus. Will be hoping Jonesy kicks around 5 which means he just needs a lazy 10 against WP and EP which he should manage (whats with the girly glove he was wearing?).

Hey Swandog get on to facebook and drag Boucher down
I sent him a private message on it last week but as yet no reply, and doubt if i will get one. Timmy Geappen is an awkward matchup for most sides as he is deceptive in his strength and agility, he is also a deadeye kick and has been a consistent forward for us.
He commands the footy and Claremont will be doing their homwork on who to match him up with, any ideas from you guys?
Looking forward to it , i will be sitting on the outer wing rain hail or shine! Will give us a good idea on what we need to do to beat you at Claremont, a task that has only happenned 32 times as i read above
No idea who’ll pick him up, Laurie was out injured last week, not sure if he’s available this week......if he was I’d have thought he’d get the job.
Long range weather is for a shower or two, so it should be ok to sit in the outer.
Bummer for Claremont with Brett Jones injured, think they said fractured cheek bone, so I’d say he’s gone for the season.
The clash in the ruck should be good, Ruck and Derickx v Spaanderman.
I reckon Geappen would be a good task for Ian Rowe very similar builds, Jess Laurie may be back this week I spoke to him on Saturday and it will come down to tests if he is in give him the job, hope he has more luck at Claremont against SD than he has at Basso as he has been injured both times out there.
Very interesting game this one. Do you show all your cards knowing you meet in a 2nd semi in a few weeks? do you go hell for leather and risk injury for the sake of some kind of psych edge?
Cant wait til Saturday morning to see the Ins and Outs. Cant see us getting too many AFLers back, Wilkes maybe who would be a handy addition but with B Jones out he may get a call up at the Weagles.
Hey Swandog yourself and any Swannies fans are welcome for a beer after the match. I like meeting Footygossers! Ask for ANDY the ground announcer and someone will point you my way.

Suffice to say don’t ask for me.....you may get funny loooks
yeah when are you going to come back for a beer? last home and away game this weekend! its a good vibe you get to chat to the players and coaches a few ex champs etc - Dale Kickett is usually there and recently I have spoken to Graham Moss, Warren Ralph, Barry Beecroft and of course Wayne Blackwell is always around being the colts coach - be prepared though his awards presentations go on longer than Titanic!

Was in the downstairs bar until it closed on Saturday, then ventured upstairs for about an hour.
Other past players.....Mark Hann, Neil Park and Paul Morgan at the game
Mark Hann is at a lot of home games and there is this bloke I recognise I can never remember his name I am sure its Higgins? actually may well be Neil Park but man it annoys me! he is always in the members section every home game but doesnt hang round long after - was there a bloke named Peter Higgins who played in the 80’s? please solve this mystery before I implode!
Peter Higgins....usually is in the sponsors lounge. Ex-Carlton Colts ruckman that Warren Ralph brought over when he returned in 1987. Ended up on the Eagles list and think played at East Freo for a season. Hard as a cat’s head. Neesham once said he was the only player ever to phone him from the dug-out demanding to go on .....loved a fight!
Aggressive big man Peter Higgins arrived at Claremont in 1987 after playing under-19s and reserves football at Carlton and played in a senior premiership in his first season. He continued to develop with the Tigers and was drafted to West Coast in the 1988 player ballot as the club’s second selection and played four games before being de-listed.
Higgins played sixty games with the Tigers and kicked 23 goals.
