Any one got any idea’s who would be the favourite for taking out the flag this year in the mercantile divi 1 and the reserves???

i would think Noranda would be favourites for the league flag and would think Cockburn would be almost a shoe in for the reserves flag.

You’d have to say Cockburn are the favourites.. As every year they go under the radar and do not perform well during the winter months. Come finals they get their list togther and like last year won 3 out of the 4 finals they played in. They even took it up to Woorooloo in the grand final only to get over run in the last quarter.

Cockburn will win the reserve’s grand final also.

I don’t think Cockburn will be too much of a threat this year in the league they have been struggling and have taken a few heavy losses. I think other teams have caught up with them this year.

I would say Noranda Vs Kwinana grand final this year as they are the two teams that stand out this year and would battle it out for the flag.

Jandakot have improved this year but would say they are still a bit off the pace for a grand final berth.

Whereas Yanchep have gone the other way and have fallen off the pace badly and will struggle to even make the finals. Nothing needs to be said about Midland it explains itself.

Cockburn’s recent run of bad form has alerted the club’s powerbrokers to have a list management meeting and asses the area’s on the field they need addressing. One key area they felt needed to be looked at was to take some pressure of their key forward. The club’s number one recruiter went on a mission and found a player who they believe will see them out of this current form slump.

I think Kwinana will be hard to beat. Especially with 3 teams, makes them pretty strong and should have a lot of players pushing thru for selection.

I think Cockburn for reserves. Have a very big reserves side, not sure why some aren’t playing league really

Cockburn always have to be favourites.
have a very well drilled side for playing finals. not sure of any changes to their line up this year but are experienced in big games.
the full forwrd is near on unstoppable when hes going.

Interesting to note that Kwinana defeated Cockburn in both league and ressies this week.

Can Kwinana maintain this good form going into finals?

Finally Cockburn are getting players back from their holiday’s and beginning to get their league and reserves squad balanced.

I think Kwinana will slightly have their heads in front for the premiership. Especially after beating Cockburn so easily a few weeks ago. But Cockburn did it last year and came from 4th or 5th to make the GF. Very interesting again this year

I’m backing Cockburn as was said previously. Cockburn are forever going into the final turn as the under dogs. They took it up to wooraloo last year. and by all reports probably deserved the medal. They are and always have been a well drilled team and i think the key here is they have plenty of big game experience.

I can’t understand why everyone thinks Cockburn will be a threat come finals this year. They have really has a terrible year by their standards and there ageing list is only getting older and that has shown in the past 2 years where they have slid down the ladder, yes they did make the grand final last year but that doesn’t guarantee they will do any good this year. They only have a one man forward line (Craft decor guy) if you shut him down you pretty much win the game.
Kwinana for me to take out the flag they have improved a lot from last year but Noranda will be close to them in the final could go either way.

Noranda have been hopeless come finals time for the last two years, why would they have any chance against Cockburn if they were to meet for a chance to play Kwinana in the GF.
It’s been said Cockburn arre getting players back, that will only strengthen their side who play excellent finals football regardless of the form for the season.

In the last four years Cockburn have won 2 flags, lost a GF to an Andy Krakouer inspired Wooroloo, and finished third behind very strong Wanneroo/Kingsway and Midland sides.

They simply have a great record in finals.

Hi - your recollection of 2007 is incorrect.  Kwinana actually defeated Cockburn in the 1st Semi Final for the third consecutive time for the season.

Then Kwinana and Midland proceeded to have a triple overtime draw the following week which resulted in a 2 point Midland victory.

Having seen Cockburn on three occasions this season I’d have to say they are dangerous; but not sure where they will find the 8-10 goals they need to compete with Kwinana or Noranda.  I guess this week will show if they can compete as they probably had their strongest side of the season last week against an undermanned Jandakot.

I really think that should Jandakot get a fit team on the park, you are going to see an absolute cracker of a game in the 1st Semi at Kwinana in 2.5 weeks time!

Cheers for the correction dicky
I do indeed remember watching that triple overtime game back in 07, however I believe my other stats are correct and still make for very good evidence.
Kwinana also fielded a very strong side in 07.
Looking forward to finals action this year.

Cockburn beat Noranda today. Not sure if Noranda had players out or not as without looking back thru the results, I’m pretty sure they have beaten them twice this year.
