They don’t and I think FREO have moved on from that long ago,even if none of us have.

Stephen Hill criticised by Leigh Matthews

FOOTY legend Leigh Matthews has launched a stunning attack on the work ethic of young Docker Stephen Hill.

Hill was comprehensively outplayed by his direct opponent Brady Rawlings in the Dockers’ loss to North Melbourne on Saturday. He lost the possessions battle 39-7.

Matthews said it was the most uneven match-up he has ever seen and a “savage indictment” on Hill’s desire to win................

I wouldn’t think you would need that for you to make disparaging comments about the Dockers.Never stopped you from being the snake in the grass sniper that you are.
You were nowhere to be seen earlier in the season,but come out of your snake hole refuge and get the venom working now.

So you think Naitanui will be better than Hill and Rich?

Hill, like all young Dockers, was the victim of a number of things - key players out, on the road, nearing the end of a long season etc. Hill, Rich and Naitanui have struggled for consistent impact this year.

One thing I will say is the quick, flashy players will only ever be damaging for probably 15-20 mins a game. It’s what they do in that 15-20 mins (spread over the 4 quarters) that they get recognised for.

They aren’t there to be a Jobe Watson, Jimmy Bartel, Ben Cousins etc etc who play 80% + of the game and are always around the ball. ‘Impact’ players if you will. Rioli, Wojinski etc etc are in the same boat IMO.

Yet Hill has a lot more development in him yet and criticism of him (and Rich, Naitanui at times above) is just misguided. Ditto proclaiming who is the best out of all of them, at such an early stage in their careers.

with those 3 players there are 3 very different situations. Teams seem to have cottoned onto Hills ability to gain metreage and subsequently he is getting heavy tags. This was the case with Rich and am not entirely sure if he is still copping one.

Natanui on the other hand doesnt get a tag but is just struggling to have a consistent impact and isnt looking a natural footballer at the moment, but he is a ruckman and his ceiling for improvement is sky high, could be scary good in 3 years time.

Personally i would take Hill for the future, the outside running player with pace to burn and laser footskills are where the game is heading in the next 5 years and with interchange caps coming in, players like Hill can still hit top speed when fatigued and out run the inside players.
