May not all be available for round 1 but this is how we should look.

FF - Dellolio / Murphy / Mugumbwa
HF - Phillips / Wilson / Seigert
C - Bossong / Miller / R. Adams
HB - Head / Thornton / McGrath
FB - A. Hams / Hunt / White

RCK - Graham / T. Adams / Wilkie
INT - Delmenico / K. Hams / North / McCarrey

Ressies - Gugliemana / Palumbo / T. Bairstow / Fielding / Collica / Foster / Cornell / Winter / D. Bairstow / Hall / Campbell / Amato / NT fellas x 4 etc.

Find it very hard to fit all players in with at least 6-8 of the blokes named in the ressies I’m sure will be in the side somehow rnd 1. Bairstow, Fielding, Gugliemana, Palumbo, and Collica all deserve a league birth from what I’ve seen so far.

Perhaps if Seigert, R. Adams, White and McCarrey aren’t fully match fit they will be the ones fighting it out in the 2’s at the start of the year.

The good thing is if we don’t have Murphy available then Cornell / McCarrey / Delmenico fit straight in or if Thornton get selected by Freo Bossong / Delmenico or even McCarrey can slot back there with Head and Hunt.

If 2 of the NT fellas prove they are league players and it sounds like Rioli and Tung . . . .  are then a few smaller blokes will be pushing it.

The word will be have a good first few weeks or you could be in the 2’s for a fair while. All healthy stuff if you ask me with plenty of depth for all spots.

A reserves side could look like this;

FF - Tungalatum / Cornell / Kelly
HF - Fielding / Groenenburg / Rioli
C - Gugliemana / T. Bairstow / Campbell
HB - Palumbo / D. Bairstow / Amato
FB - Collica / Hall / ???

RCK - Costello / Winter / Foster

INT - Newton / Parry / and I can’t think of any more right now. Will come back to itsmile

Looks good Dogman, the two confirmed NT boys plus the other 2 non-confirmed, are unknown quantities in the WAFL comp, but would expect to see some league out of them.

Important for us this year is that the second tier ressie types step up to the occasion when called upon for league duties……fitness to key players will also be vital this year…

Leg speed and goal kicking are going to be areas of concern for me boys. I know people kept telling us last year that we were too old and too slow but were still able to go premiers. Thats why I think with the recruitment of the 4 NT boys will be a huge bonus for us, as from all reports all have a bit of leg speed and goal kicking potential.

Also with the little general and to a lesser extent Farmer retiring we have a huge gap to fill when you talk leadership and organisation onfield and offfield. I seem to think that this year we will need more of that from our leadership group in McGrath , Graham , Hunt and co to combat the loss of these two great players. Complacency and dare I say it, Pyschological premiership hangover is another concern. How hungry will the group be after their brilliant year last year??? Only time will tell on this front.
It will also be important that those second tier players you mention SFFC push up hard and create huge competition for spots in our league team, because that will offset the inclination of any complacency from anyone.

We have the scoring power with one or both (Willo & Murf) available for the best part of the season.  We just need a couple of crumbers around them for when the ball hits the deck.  We can off-set leg speed if we play smart posession football.  You can’t beat experience as we showed last year & I think that we still have enough experienced players to do that.  Players like Kelly & Hall have been in the resies for too long & need to step up.

Mate good points , but I dont take into consideration AFL listed players such as Willo and Murf, as you rightly point out you would expect to have one or both for the greater part of the year but they are not our players and we cant rely on them......Been burnt fat too many times in the past....
Agree on the other points though....particularly players like Hall & Kelly etc they need to step up big time.

Wilson only a rookie fellas so unless someone else gets a long term injury he will be with SF all year. (Cockie will be the first to go up probably anyway).

Murphy will be half in half out, competing with Pavlich, Johnson, Mayne, Bradley up forward and Tarrant, Grover, McPharlin, Dodd down back. Not sure if we, SF would work that well really with both of them down there at the same time anyway. Maybe too crowded. What would McCarrey do? Delemnico, Gumby, Phillips and then you want Kelly and Hall to step up. Not sure where boys? Groenenburg and Cornell also to play key forward roles. I reckon we have heaps of talls to kick goals, it’s the smalls at their feet.

Del’olio is a definate down there, maybe Craig White could go back to his old position as a small goalsneak to help out with a Rioli or one of the NT fellas? Whitey may find it hard to keep his spot as a small defender now competing with A. Hams, K. Hams, McGrath, North, even Corey Amato.

I can see Kris Miller spending some time across half forward this year, loves a goal and gets the ball. Sam Fielding, Reece Adams and Seigert have all played in that position before and kicked multiple goals.

Don’t forget Gumby plays as a tall and a small at the same time and can do the things that we want from a small forward. The forward line and backline are really the same from last year’s Grand Final with the inclusions of McCarrey, Murphy, Fielding and Cornell potentially up forward and North down back.

It’s the midfield we have lost the 4-5 solid players.

Can we cover that to get enough supply to our forwards and take the heat off our defende? Thats the grey area for me. Graham, Miller, McGrath, Adamsx2, Wilkie, Hamsx2, Seigert, Bossong, Bairstow, Head and Gugs will have lots of work to do. Hopefully one or 2 of Palumbo, Collica, Fielding and Amato can step up and become regular league players who can slip under other sides guards.

Tough run at the start of the year for us, we need to get our best side up and playing for the last scratchie v subi in 2 weeks and get some run off half back from Bossong, Head, Hunt, Hams’ and McGrath that can make us look faster than maybe we are through the middle and give the forwards to run and mark.

We have done it for the last 4-5 years, it’s no secret what we do, hopefully we can keep doing it better than any1 else.

Regardless of what the media are saying about Swannies I think with that team on paper you guys are favorites for sure. Mccarrey is a huge pick up I thought he was talented at EF but suffered with crap delivery to the forward line which looking at that SF side he’ll be getting it on the tit everytime.

Yes leek re McCarrey, but his versatility was probably the main reason…named at full-back 2morrow night!
