I did not say that the board member I had spoken to was on the selection committee, just that he saw the application at the time. Maybe it was withdrawn not ignored. I hope so. Anyway as I said the past is the past. That said this club must start making strong decisions again and hopefully success on field (and that means September involvement even if it is just one week) will ensure that no one in the footy department needs to fall on their swords.

If there was an application from Laidley it was never tabled with the selection sub committee.

sgreer I have sent you a PM as I don’t think it is appropriate to continue the debate about a selection process publicly that occurred over 5 years ago.

“maybe EF is going to take the fast low approach to goal”
Freeze, that may take a team into the finals with a bit of run and stun, as per the Western Bulldogs.  Unfortunately for the Dogs though, a big man up front is still needed, so hopefully we can pull a last minute coup.  Wonder if what Matthew Lloyd’s doing nowadays?????

58, Matty Lloyd is playing for big bucks in some local Victorian league, yep have no doubt EF will need a big target up front, as for Weller playing up front, I reckon he is better suited in a BP or FB, some of the games he has played there in the past he has looked pretty good......has anyone heard any more news about some transfer funds for either Swallow or Johns?......or are EF still pursuing Johns, in the hope of a last minute change of mind?

According to Gaspar there seems to be still a state of non communication between Johns and the club. As a not too bright Gen Y he probably thinks if he does not talk to them , the club will forget him. I am sure they will not. As for Swallow they don’t get the big dollars until he is officially drafted this November but I believe they are pursuing a smaller transfer fee in result to losing him this year.

Have heard from an unreliable source that Conway has gone travelling this year and that Bongiascia has gone with him. Have not been to the club so do not know if this is true or not. Also heard Woewodin interviewed on 91.3FM today and apart from those players already mentioned on this site no other recruits where mentioned. As for Swallow and more particularly Johns let them go but get every cent you can.

Damian Gaspar did not list them as outs on sunday. Maybe they are travelling now and that explains their absence. Notthe ideal preparation but better than losing them for the whole season.

Oooll, greer mentioned also Liam Mcguire’s brother and one of the Garlett boys from Carey Park were additions at EF......also a few Geraldton boys have ventured down to play, they aren’t on any list I can see of recent ins/outs.....plus Woey was on the radio the other day and no mention of Conway or Bongnascia gone travelling...so realistically who knows?
