Can anyone confirm the rumours that Cunderdin have recruited some VERY handy players from an A Grade Amateur club recently? My mail is that at least 6 players from one A Grade club have departed for some not-so-hard-earned dollars in the bush because they’ve had enough of playing “with their mates” in the WAAFL......TRUE OR FALSE? Someone knows something.....

Not sure of your point here Deano. Are you suggesting that these players may have received some form of payment at the A Grade Club in question but were not able to hold onto them when the stakes were raised by Cunderdin. You have named the country club, so who is the alleged A Grade Club?
Or are you simply suggesting that these players showed a serious lack of commitment to their Ammo Club ?

Wilson, I am only trying to establish whether or not the information I have recently received is questionable or not. I don’t want to name the Ammo club, but if this information is true, then obviously it will come out in the wash shortly. Knowing the club in question and the fact that they were middle of the road last season and want to have a tilt at the flag in 2010, I seriously doubt that there’s been a mass exodus to be honest. The reason I named Cunderdin is that they are allowed to offer cash to their players so no harm there, but it is illegal in the WAAFL and suggesting that a WAAFL club has been paying players is one thing I am not going to get into. I am merely trying to sort out the fact from the fiction.....this time of year tends to lend itself to a fair bit of speculation, rumour and innuendo about player moves and most of it ends up bulldust anyway.

Phil Smith, the recently retired half bank flanker and 1999 premiership player perhaps.

Has he been at an A Grade club in recent years? I think he has. If so, is he taking a group with him? Cmon Diesel, you seem to know a fair bit…

Thanks Diesel. So the rumours are true about the Stirling players? I didnt want to mention the club because I have some mates there. If so, how many are going bush, and why would they leave a club like Stirling? I thought the Saints had some potential in 2010. Good coach, good young list, good facilities, plenty of coin. If the lure of the almighty dollar is causing their departure, they must be some of their better players wouldn’t you agree? I dont think a country club would offer $$$ to the also-rans. Somebody close to the Saints or Cunderdin should be able to confirm or deny so we can get on with the next good rumour....
