I was not sure where to post this as the story covers several areas, but i guess seeing as he started his career at the Garlic Munchers I thought this is where it should be.
Yet another great article on a player from the great era of West Australian football.
I can remember seeing him take many a screamer for the Munchers.A high mark of the highest quality,as good as any going around at the time.
If my memory of Richards is correct he was of light frame even for those times, but a superb footballer.

Laurie’s 1969 finals performances were outstanding and will always be remembered by Cardies supporters.
His first goal in the GF came after several close misses. Polly suggested a drop kick from quite a distance… the rest is history.

Laurie’s comeback season in Red & Blue was worthy of note. Especially his winning goal at Freo, if I’m not wrong; West Perth’s first win in 10 years at the Port.

Gifted footballer and a joy to watch.
