Mid morning over here, but I have been told that Peter Harvey Club president is up for renomination with no one against him. Then Gary Symonds, Kim Rutherford and Scott Cummings positions up for grabs. With Howard Dawson (ex director), Rod Greene (Swansmens), David Siglin and Robert V/Tralen putting their hands up. Its been around ten years since we have had an election so good to see new blood having ago. Who knows what ?

Back in Perth in time for Xmas.
I’m surprised the passionate swans people havn’t added their thoughts to this thread. Flying Johnson, Swan 42, Bogan from Ashfield etc, all good swans supporters (and love reading their views), but no-one interested in what is happening in the upper echolen of our great club.
And yes terible shame in losing Ellenbrook, so much work has been put into that area by swans and now all gone

In the main I have been pretty happy with how we have been going on and off the field. For the first time for a very long time we have had some ongoing success at colts’ level. Of course, the Ellenbrook situation is disgraceful and I hope that we will be doing everything to get the decision rescinded. The fact that we have several people interested in helping to run the club is a good indication that things are going pretty well.
As a matter of interest where are you and do you have access to any of the Swans games on the net?

I’m a Midland boy of old, but back in Perth for awhile now, looking forward to season 2010.
Voting wise I know that Howard Dawson was a Director and glad to see him restand, know of Greenies time with the Swansmen and he would also be good value, not sure on the rest. So was hoping to get some knowlege.

Sorry but know nothing of the inner workings of the club. Am a member but just go as a casual fan.
Have noticed a marked improvement in the last 5 years as to how the club is run and general professionalism though. I realise it’s very expensive but i think installing lights and playing night games would be very succesful.

it is positive to see a number of people wanting to help run the club. I was under the knowledge that Howard Dawson was going to step away after one year as a director but perhaps that has changed. The score card for Harvey is getting better with some previous criticizms from myself but i think it would be hard to find someone who is as passionate about the football club and hopefully now the important things are the first priority on a Harvey led board. This including keeping Dawson as the coach as long as possible even if he cannot become a full time coach.
Would be good to get some younger flavour/ very recent player on the board, a few people thought Lange was an option but this not being the case maybe someone recently out of retirement could put their hand up. At Claremont Tom Matson has been on the board as a player for many years, i dont know if this at swans with the culture being well grounded on the players doing their job on the field and the board off it would be a good idea but good to throw ideas out their to make our club better.

Got my voting papers in the mail, they look as if any one receiving the mail at Swans can read the voting. Very amateurish.

Presumably their would be an internal office procedure to ensure the integrity of the vote. It obviously is a balancing act between the extent of the secrecy of the voting and the cost of the election.
It is an interesting selection of people going up for election.
What do Swans’ members think of Scotty Cummings standing for the committee?

Your right Swan on Cummings, pretty hard to be based in Vic and be able to advise Dawson on training. Fair enough he could be handy in assessing players from Vic that would want to head West. But you don’t have to be a Director to do that. Just takes up a position that could be filled locally.
It’s high time that we had some locals prepared to pitch in and help and give us the oppurtunity to have a say.
Rumour has it that we will show a healthy profit but it comes from the wrong area’s. If we take away our bonus from draft picks we could be down one hundred grand. And we sure can’t rely on that every year.
Good Luck to the new blood, hope they get in and make a difference

I think the fact that there is 4 positions and 7 applicants tells you that people are prepared to get involved. Also i thought the voting process was professional. It’s not like it’s going to be run by the electoral commission.
The candidates all seemed pretty good too.

I think Scott Cummings is a good name and should hold a role as recruiter or consultant but isnt the right person to be a director. People need to think of who can place swans in a good position especially with business expertise and backed by a very hard swans passion. This is why i think Howard Dawson, Rod Green and the new candidates should get the nod.
They are good swans people but Rutherford, Symonds etc have had there time and although swans are going well they are not a powerhouse from investment etc but from draft money. Let mining executive Howard and prominent businessman Greene take the reigns and the club will be in good hands.

S/abroad there was no positive or negative comment about Scott Cummings in my post. I was merely enquiring about other Swans’ members view of his nomination given that he is domiciled in Melbourne.

How can Scott Cummings possibly have any input as the Football Director.
I hear that he never attaended a single meeting in 2009. Why is he bothering to stand?
