Its plain to see that Freo are going down the youth policy track, so why do they continue to play hacks like Gilmore,Peake, thornton, and Bradley because this game was lost because of those i just mentioned they make the same mistakes week in week out, watching the game you were just hoping they would give the ball to the young lads with no experience who actually made the right decisions under pressure, i reckon send Thornton and Gilmore back to Sths so they can derail their Premiership chances.

Agree with you numnuts. The first three are diabolical along with their mate Dodd. I really was disappointed with grover and Headland today but maybe they need some fitness. I think the other 4 should be banished forever. Bradley I thought was much better today but his time is limited with Clarke showing so much promise. God we need Johnson, Crowley and Hayden back along with the two obvious big missing players in Pavlich and Palmer. At the end of the year we need to get rid of another eight ( add in Browne, Campbell, Murphy to the discards) and find 4 new quality18 year olds and look at the best 4 two-three year players in the WAFL because Broughton and Ballantyne were pretty good today.

Couldn’t agree more of the 4 players mentioned.

It was going to be tough for them to win without Pavlich though.

Just heard part of Harveys’ press conference and he said that along with Melbourne Freo were carrying six first year players this weekend. They aren’t the ones to worry about. How Gilmore ever got the chance to don the Dockers guernsey again is beyond belief. If any positives are to come out of this game they are that finally the end has come to those you have all mentioned.Surely!!The young kids who have been here five minutes show them up every week and hopefully can go on with it in the years to come.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you’re a mile away and you have their shoes.

A very good loss for Freo’s future.  There is absolutely no point in winning more than 4 games this season.  Very good signs for 2010 for the Freo faithful.

Quite impressed with Freo for 3 qtrs, they played with some flair and confidence especially the young blokes like Broughton, Hill, Ballantyne, DeBoer and the big bloke Clark also showed a bit. Drop some of the lamentable dead wood that have been mentioned before. With the eventual return of quality blokes like, Johnson, Crowley, Hayden, Pav & Palmer and they start to look pretty reasonable.

Do GC get the pick of the draft this year or next? if it’s this year then Freo wont get too much. Should have a look at WAFL/SANFL players in their early/mid 20’s, plenty of quality there and they have played in a mans comp for a few years so ready to step up, guys like Cockie, Broughton, Ballantyne, Pridiss have shown they are good value. Plenty of good blokes running around up at Swans who are in the early mid 20’s range that are worth a look, Robinson, Gaepen, Wolfenden and the like.

Yes SS about young Zac Clarke.I have seen a bit of him in the WAFL this season and am not at all surprised that he went ok on Sunday.Has a good pair of hands and reads the play pretty well. Not surprisingly he has so far been overlooked in the media frenzy involving another young ruckman.Would say that suits him just fine. Also on the draft this year if Freo finish 15th they will get pick two and up to five more if they choose to do so.GC don’t get a go until 2010.

For the gull’s benefit there is an uncompromised draft this year.  GC get access to some 17 year olds this year who are too young for this year’s draft.  If Freo don’t win more than 4.5 wins this year they get an extra pick after the first round in the draft.  I think more mature players are likely to be picked up in next year’s draft because of the GC’s draft concessions in 2010.

Swan, what was your take on Nat’s performance against Melbourne, I’m a fan of the big bloke and only saw the first half, but he looked totally lost against the big melbourne ruckman. He was being blocked quite often by the melbourne players, but he didn’t seem to be able to work out that he needs to use his main weapon, which is his mobility. If he had moved around a lot more circling the pack for bounce downs, they wouldn’t have been able to block him as effectively, then he could have used his leap to better effect.
The coaching staff need to guide him with this sort of thing, if he tries to body up against giant blokes like Jaymar? who continually jumped early, he will be ineffective in that part of the game. It’s a learning process for him but thats where the coaches need to take a hand.
When Cox is back I’d like to see Nat’s, when he’s not filling in in the ruck, stationed on a wing, I reckon he could really be a handfull as a 200+cm lightening fast wingman, no one could match-up on him.

He doesnt get enough ball to play wing, he would get lost in the first 5 minutes. Doesnt have the smarts as yet either & not sure he will eventually.... time wil tell though..... a good football brain is worth its wait in gold.... he aint got one.
