Just bought a Sangean (this was the only brand they had in the shop) Digital Radio (DAB+) from Harvey Norman today so I could listen to Brad and Barra on 6PR tonight and it is sensational! It’s like you’re sitting in the studio with them, and in DIGITAL STEREO! Finally, we get to listen to AM Sport radio in perfect quaity sound without all that old analogue interference. My usual AM sgnal is shithouse, but this is crystal clear! I highly recommend anyone who listens to AM to go out and get on to DAB+ asap! There’s heaps of new FM stations on DAB that you can’t get on regular FM radio’s too. 92.9 were dual braodcasting their regular programming as well as a new station called “Pink Radio” which is a dedicated “Pink” (the pop singer who is touring Australia) station. These new radio’s are not cheap (this one cost me 290 bucks) but for an avid radio listener, well worth the investment!!!!!

Brad and Barra in digital stereo? WOW~ Can’t wait!

Are there more winners on digital stereo?

Being on the bones of my bum I reckon the old faithful tranny will have to be good enough for oos for the foreseeable future, especially with the price of beer going up.

Digital radio in all three formats has not taken off in America / Europe and England , satellite radio has taken off so it will be interesting to see how it goes in Australia .

Presumably digital radio converts what barra has to say into something which is sensible.  Not sure that digital radio is powerful enough to change the anti-Docker bias of Barra (well all of 6PR) and the likes of Glenn Mitchell.

I prefer to go with Grandstand Digital so you hear the cricket without the news updates and bushfire updates ... as well as the obvious - hearing the first hour of the SCG Test without the breakfast show and news at 7.45am!

They have also had all the KFC Big bash matches - only missed one match on the way home so far and that was the close one between Vic and NSW :S

Dunno why anyone would try and damage their speakers by listening to the fools on 6PR.

I’ll just wait until they become cheaper. That’s a matter of months rather than years.

Mighties. I have just purchased a digital radio. I live in Mandurah. I can get 720, ABC grandstand, 6ix 6pr and other stations. I think unless the station is transmitting in digital you wont get the station. Mine has 2 settings. FM and DAB. I had trouble receiving stations down here with my old radio. I get clear and good signal now with new radio. Some else might know a bit more.

Grassy, I got mine from Dick Smith. Make is Kaiserbaas. It was about $90. When you change locations you do a full scan. Stations i get down would be different when going to Perth. I would get more stations closer to Perth.

kk mighties this is what I could find, but you may have already seen it in your manual. good on your kid for trying.. these things are all different and pretty hard to work out sometimes. There is an FM and DAB+ mode, make sure you have selected DAB+.

Mine auto-searches for stations and it looks like yours should too. If it isn’t getting AM, you may not be in their reception area. I dont think all AM stations are on there, but 6PR, ABC and ABC Grandstand (the main ones!) all have digital channels. Actually pretty sure 1080 6IX has one too.

May I ask where abouts you live? If you are anywhere from Mandurah to Yanchep you should get all digital channels without a problem.

This is from the manual:

Changing DAB+ Stations
Press the TUNE+/- button to scroll through the available stations. The stations will
appear on the display.
When the station you require is displayed press the SEL button to select.

Scanning for DAB+ Stations
Due to the nature of DAB+ radio, additional stations and services regularly become
available. If you wish to see if there is any new DAB+ stations introduced in your area,
you can initiate a search by following the below steps:
1) Press the MENU button.
2) Press the TUNE+/- button, until FULL SCAN appears on the display.
3) Press the SEL button to confirm.

Hope this helps, it is a bit hard without seeing the radio though..
